This Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak evening-length work premiered to critical acclaim in 2012 at The Dance Center of Columbia College. TimeOut Chicago‘s Zac Whittenburg described The Delicate Hour as “… a next step in the evolution of a singular voice in Chicago performance…”  The Delicate Hour is part of Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak’s continued research within Stamina of Curiosity, a series of performance works with ensemble members Kristina Fluty, Ben Law and Jessie Marasa.  The Ensemble recently showed the work as part of a 10 day residency at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, hosted in partnership with Alverno Presents.

“At some point, it occurred to me that The Delicate Hour had the feel of a drunken night surrounded by friends. Maybe this had something to do with Kenny Rogers leading the opening chapter, and the company’s tousled evening wear. The ensuing phases were approachable and sweet and weird – as if the group had tied one on, gone to a party, and decided they’d rather continue their night at home curled up in the warm living room, occasionally rising to dance shamelessly and profess their unwavering love for each other.”    – Danielle McClune
